DON'T EAT THE MICROPHONE

Don’t Eat The Microphone (DETM) é um coletivo de artistas, pesquisadores, arquitetos, músicos, psicanalistas, escritores, poetas, ativistas que questionam as relações entre saúde mental, cura, cuidado, produção artística, economia e a criação de um espaço.

Este grupo de pessoas tem se reunido no jardim do hospital psiquiátrico Dr. Guislain em Ghent (BE) nos últimos cinco anos, enquanto imaginam, especulam, propõem, brainstorming, esboçam e improvisam sobre outras economias de estarmos juntos. Eles têm refletido sobre a precariedade econômica de hoje e as consequências para a segregação social dentro e fora das instituições.

Ao olhar como o discurso neoliberal e a implementação de suas políticas vem homogeneizando estruturas institucionais em máquinas sistemáticas de boa gestão, o coletivo agrega pessoas motivadas pela imaginação e atualização de espaços heterotópicos entre os campos institucionais da psiquiatria e da arte.

A partir de 2019 o DETM passa a ser uma plataforma online onde a racionalidade neoliberal pode ser discutida, denunciada e problematizada nos contextos da psiquiatria e do campo artístico do trabalho em diferentes países. O convite é criar um espaço virtual, uma caixa de ferramentas para a produção e compartilhamento de conhecimentos em torno de metodologias e estratégias de resistência à tempestade neoliberal.

 

 

Don't Eat The Microphone (DETM) is a collective of artists, researchers, architects, musicians, psychoanalysts, writers, poets, activists, questioning the relations among mental health, cure, care, artistic production, economy, and the creation of a space.

 

This bunch of people have been gathering in the garden of the psychiatric hospital Dr. Guislain in Ghent (BE) for the past five years while imagining, speculating, proposing, brainstorming, sketching and improvising about other economies of being together. They have been reflecting around today’s economic precarity and the consequences for social segregation within and outside institutions.

 

While looking at how neoliberal discourse and the implementation of its policies has been homogenizing institutional structures into systematic machines of good management, this group of people allied forces towards the imagination of a heterotopic institution between the psychiatric and artistic fields of working.

 

Since 2019 DETM becomes an online platform where neoliberal rationality can be discussed, denounced and problematized in the contexts of psychiatric and artistic fields of working in different countries. The invitation is to create a virtual space, a tool box for the production and sharing of knowledge around methodologies and strategies for resisting to the neoliberal storm.
